Vietnam Garment Sector Boosts Export Forecast To US$2.5 bln

HANOI - Vietnam's textile and garment sector is expected to earn US$2.5 billion from exports this year as against the planned US$2.4 billion, said General Director of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Corporation Mai Hoang An. An said the sector registered an export turnover of US$1.9 billion in the first nine months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 23.3 per cent. The expectation was also based on the European Union's recent 25 per cent increase in its quota for Vietnam worth US$150 million. About 40 per cent of Vietnam's garments and textile products for export entered the EU market last year.
